Again, from the 13th century Maciejowski Bible, repeated thematic images of helms and mail coifed heads being split by sword and axe blows.  On the far left a rider grapples with a foe he is stabbing in the eye with a dagger.  Below are dismembered hands, one with an additional deep wrist wound. Two heads lie next to a fallen warrior who's head has a deep gash.  Note the medium-sized round shields and their frontal designs.
