Insights from Historical Artwork

A partial representation of a bridge battle, c. mid 1300's, possibly the Sein in 1346.  Note the sword and small buckler by the leading knight crossing.  Note the large padded gambesons over mail and the swords carried by archers. One gambeson is two-toned.  The knee armor may be guilded or leather.  Four different helms and six weapon types are visible.
